White tea BENEFITS
White Tea Benefits are promoted in magazines and online, but what's the truth? Here's our simple, uncomplicated rundown. Sadly, the truth is a bit less exciting than we'd like it to be.
Your brain: Studies in Singapore have shown that catechins in tea promote brain health and that 4-6 cups per day can actually stall the onset of Alzheimers. It's one of the few benefits that have even been tested with tea as opposed to extracts. White Tea benefits from having a little more of these components, so it's a good way to get the most of this effect.
Your teeth: EPCG in all tea protects your teeth, but White tea benefits by perhaps not staining them as much.
Weight loss: Sorry, but nearly everything you've ever read about tea and weight loss is a gross exaggeration designed to sell more tea or a book. The fact is, if you drink tea instead of sugary drinks, it helps. There is a slight increase in thermogenisis (fat burning) if you drink a lot of tea, but the amount is tiny, and to get it you really need to be taking tea extract tablets, which are not tasty or enjoyable at all.
A cure for everything. A lot of people might quote a few facts, such as "New Scientist magazine (20 March 2004) mentions that numerous studies suggest that tea protects against a range of cancers, including lung, prostate and breast cancer. The reason is the antioxidant epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), according to Hirofumi Tachibana’s team at Kyushu University in Japan. Their research showed that growth of human lung cancer cells that have a cell receptor called 67 LR is slowed significantly after drinking just two or three cups of tea, which contains EGCG." The problem is that other factors are way more important than a cup of White tea's benefits. The studies always say this, the articles rarely mention it. Facts don't sell articles.
Lower caffeine. It's true that white tea often has a little less caffeine than other types of tea. But that is not definitive. If it's important to you, you can read about it by clicking here.
Your taste buds: A great white tea can be very pleasing to your taste buds! In fact, we believe that to be the greatest white tea benefit of all. Try some today!
