TEA AND CANCER

Tea and Cancer have a long history together, but the last hundred years are when it has all kicked off. This  is in relation to both herbal tea and proper tea and cancer.
Tea and Cancer information usually revolves around "cures" or prevention.
Does standard (Camellia Sinensis) tea cure cancer? No. Prevent Cancer? Perhaps a little, various studies have implied some causation, and a good dose of water plus antioxidants is a good part of a healthy diet.
Does "Yerba Maté" cure cancer? No. It is popularly believed in South America that it does, but it doesn't. There are scientific studies that show that compounds in it are very effective at killing cancer cells, but only in the lab or in animals, and usually at concentrations that would actually kill you. Killing you is the worst "cure" for cancer that there is .Prevent Cancer? Quite the opposite. Despite being a good dose of caffeine and antioxidants, several good quality, peer-review studies have shown that high consumption of Yerba Maté corresponds to higher levels of lung, esophageal, and mouth cancers, and Yerba Maté drinkers have seven times the likelihood of getting bladder cancers according to a study in Uruguay.
Does "Essiac Tea" cure cancer? No. This combination of herbs is quite simply an antioxidant rich beverage sold by unscrupulous merchants as a cure. Based on the theory that every doctor in the world knows about it but doesn't want to mention it because Big Pharma are beaming their lizard thoughts into their brains etc. Prevent Cancer? While there has been at least one unexplained death, the general consensus is that it's a good cup of antioxidants and may be beneficial in the same way regular tea is.
One fact that is indisputable is that people die when they choose to put off chemotherapy and other conventional medicines in order to try to drink themselves healthy. Please do not do this. Please do not let your loved ones do this.
So, is there any good news about tea and cancer?
Yes! There is no doubt a good cup of antioxidants and polyphenols may help you avoid cancer, it's just that other factors are far bigger., such as smoking and genetics.
There is a large amount of anecdotal evidence that people who are undergoing chemo may be able to drink tea when they have trouble keeping any other food or drink down. Different people have reported different teas being helpful after chemo, so if that's you, you should experiment a bit and find one you like.
Some 'after chemo' options  to try:

Compassion for Mrs. Bennet's Nerves

A$22.50
The Devotea are proud to be the Australian distributor of Bingley's Tea's Jane Austen Series.
Here's how they describe this one:

*
A Tea House Times Editor's Pick!
"Mrs. Bennet, an inspired tisane from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is the first tisane of our Jane Austen Tea Series Teas ®
At last there is compassion for what poor Mrs. Bennet suffers with her nerves! Ideal for late afternoon tea when caffeine is not wanted but a beautiful cuppa is needed.
Our tisane of plump chamomile flower buds, spirited peppermint, calming passion flower and linden, romantic rose petals for her wishful match making, rosehips, and lovely garden lavender, perhaps from a prettyish sort of wood.
We are pleased to share that friends who have told us they previously sipped tisanes only for health benefit, now say they happily make themselves of cup of Compassion for Mrs. Bennet's Nerves purely for the enjoyment of it.  That is praise indeed!
We recommend a touch of local honey for a sweet tooth while sitting by the fire reading a favorite Austen novel"
Contains 45g of this wonderful tisane, plus a bookmark.
